Elsie Leister of Telford, formerly a longtime resident ofSellersville, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at GrandView Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was 85.

She was the beloved wife of Paul R. Leister for 65 years.

Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Erdman andEmma (Egert) Richter.

Elsie grew up in the village of Rich Hill and was a graduate ofQuakertown High School.

Mrs. Leister had been employed as a stock room clerk for 29years at the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville,retiring in 1988. Prior to that, she had worked in the offices ofthe former Penn Pants and Lemmon Pharmaceuticals, both ofSellersville, and American Olean Tile, Lansdale.

A longtime active member of Jerusalem Evangelical LutheranChurch, Almont, West Rockhill Township, Elsie had volunteered as anusher and greeter, planted flowers, cleaned the church, and helpedto paint the Sunday school rooms and Fellowship Hall. Additionally,she was the Lutheran Brotherhood communicator for Lenape Branch8181.

Elsie had participated in the U.S. Gauge Bowling League.

An avid gardener, Mrs. Leister also enjoyed sewing, reading,cooking, baking, and travelling with her husband. She lovedspending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildrenwhom she adored very much.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leister is survived by herdaughter, Paulette Eister and her husband, Warren, of Perkasie; twogranddaughters, Brenda Kleinhenz and her husband, John, ofShoemakersville; and Jennifer Wilson and her husband, David, ofGilbertsville; four great-grandchildren, Sean, Kelly, Jacob, andMatthew; and a brother, Robert Richter, of Quakertown. She waspreceded in death by two sisters, Victoria Yerk and Ruth Slozer;and a brother, Harold Richter.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, inthe Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville,where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time ofservice. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park,Prospectville.
